Desert Experimental Range (DER). Foothills of the Tunnel Springs Mountains, as they extend S into the salt desert flats. Open rocky/gravelly slopes and ridges, with low rock outcrops.

Habitat
Growing on the upper to top section of a rocky slope. Co-occuring with Encelianopsis, yellow disk-flowered asters, pink-flowered Echinocereus, etc.
Description
Uncommon. The shortest one on the voucher was buried underground.

Collected during the Intermountain Botanical Foray 2023, with access, facilities, and support provided by the Rocky Mountain Research Station.
