Description
Lush path edge through shaded evergreen forest slope, with Microlepia, Selaginella, etc. Common, widespread, along moister stretches of the path. The population sample was taken along ~200m of trail, starting at this coordinate. The herbarium specimens were collected a little earlier (above) this spot.
Collection notes
Seemingly two Acystopteris morphotypes collected on this trip: a higher elevation one (CJR 4725, 4743) with darker stipes (at least proximally), less dense large pale glass-like catenate hairs, and common smaller darker catenate hairs and/or conical hairs with inflated bases, which may be the same as the catenate ones, just with the cells un-collapsed. Common shiny yellow stalked glands on laminae, abaxially, also (at least in one collection) common on margin of indusium, and a lower elevation one (CJR4704, 4767, 4771) with pale stipes and dense large pale catenate hairs (glass-like cells with light cross-walls). Stalked yellow glands were also present abaxially on laminae, but not as common (?), and not as conspicuous (not as shiny?)--the same glands were common on the indusia.
