Description
In a loose four foot by 2 foot patch, on lip of steep slope in hardwood forest on clay soils above the Eno River, with Acer barbatum (intergrading with A.saccharum saccharum?), Quercus alba, Carya cordiformis, Liquidambar, Fagus, etc. Only understory veg in immediate vicinity were tree seedlings. Nearby is a stand of Celtis cf. occidentalis (CJR 2943).
Collection notes
Foliage distinctly shiny, and stems largely prostrate.
