Description
Common on pockets of rich soil over bedrock outcrops, on slope above mountain stream, with Rosa multiflora, Polystichum, Hamamelis, small thin Carex cf appalachica (CJR 2919), cf Eupatorium rugosum, Rubus occidentalis, etc. Full shade, under Acer rubrum, Liriodendron, etc. These cf digitalis plants were large, and formed circular prostrate clumps, quite unlike the thin-leaved upright version seen frequently on this trip on earthen roadside banks, etc.
