On steep slopes of a large sand terrace that rised 50-80+ft above the broad floodplain. Shaded below a mesic hardwood forest canopy of Pinus strobus, Betula papyrifera, Quercus rubra, etc. Deep fine tan sand. With Woodsia obtusa, D.carthusiana, Adiantum pedatum, etc.
