Specific locality
Picture Creek powerline area north of Butner. A mowed powerline clearing through mixed mesic second growth forest dominated by Pinus taeda, Liquidambar styraciflua, Acer rubrum, Acer saccharum, Acer barbatum, Quercus stellata, etc. The basic or circumneutral soil is over diabase rock. SW (by foot) of where Otha Mangum Rd crosses the railway line.

Description
Uncommon? Clumps with Carex oligocarpa (CJR 2870), Dichanthelium cf boscii, Carex oxylepis, Bromus, etc., under Acer and Cercis. Largely open understory of pine-dominated mixed forest, at edge of small seasonal creek.
