Specific locality
Picture Creek powerline area north of Butner. A mowed powerline clearing through mixed mesic second growth forest dominated by Pinus taeda, Liquidambar styraciflua, Acer rubrum, Acer saccharum, Acer barbatum, Quercus stellata, etc. The basic or circumneutral soil is over diabase rock. SW (by foot) of where Otha Mangum Rd crosses the railway line.

Description
Locally common with Danthonia, Melica, Rubus, Carex oxylepis (abundant), Carex gracilescens (CJR 2862), Carex hirsutella (CJR 2863), Solanum carolinense, etc. Meadow community (often wet meadow) in powerline clearing. Full sun. This species seemed considerably less common, in the general vicinity, than C.hirsutella.
