Habitat
In wet mossy soil, sheltered, by boulders, in Polylepis forest. This morphotype seemed to be the most frequent Polystichum present. We collected five Polystichum specimens here: PC067--backswept lower pinnae, small toothed ultimate segments; PC068--like the above, but much smaller; PC069--has more rounded ultimate segments; PC070--larger version; PC071--very hairy, dark green, broad at base).
