Desert Experimental Range (DER). Shallow relatively barren slope of limestone gravel with lots of sand, dominated by Enceliopsis, Eriogonum shockleyi, Ephedra, Sphaeralcea caespitosa, Atriplex, Stenotus, big Chaenactus, etc. Area on the northern edge of the Halfway Range, on the way up to Tunnel Spring Mountains.
