Notes from Gerald Peters (June 21, 2003): "A. MIC 1+ (previously designeated M3 or M3H (H for greenhouse) at VCU). This came from CFKRL. Lost M3 when chamber went, found M3H in resonable condition and freed it of epiphytic contaminants in 1994. This isolate is NOT in the IRRI collection. It was designated CS-P19-CF at Kettering. It was collected by C. Shock from the Chaco of Praguay between Asuncion and the Bolivian border along the Ruta Trans Chaco. It was collected in September 1979 and sent to CFKRL by D.W. Rains, along with a number of others in this series, in Sept. 1979. It was brought to VCU in 1987. Note that the IRRI collection does include isolates 1,6, 13, 20, 24 and 26 of this series collected by C. Shock and taken to IRRI by D.W. Rains in 1981. IRRI numbers for these are MI 4001, 4003, 4009, 4017, and 4018 respectively. a. MIC 1- endophyte-free plants of above, generated from segments without apices by L. Newman in 1997 and maintained on I+NO3 or I+NH4 since then."
