On soil pocket in rock outgroup above fairly steep, exposed, dry, south-facing loose "chalky" gravelly/sandy/rocky slope. With scattered vegetation, including Carex, Ranunculus andersonii (CJR4398), Claytonia lanceolata (CJR4399), Cercocarpus, Mahonia, etc.
