Specific locality
Picture Creek powerline area north of Butner. A mowed powerline clearing through mixed mesic second growth forest dominated by Pinus taeda, Liquidambar styraciflua, Acer rubrum, Acer saccharum, Acer barbatum, Quercus stellata, etc. The basic or circumneutral soil is over diabase rock. SW (by foot) of where Otha Mangum Rd crosses the railway line.

Description
Local, in dense clump, strong bases (hard to dig up and separate), with Melica, Rhus copallinum, Carex oxylepis, etc. Meadow community (often wet meadow) in powerline clearing. Full sun.
